The students of the School of Architecture of the University of Nicosia unite their inspiration with the “Lemesos Commons”

On Tuesday, April 29, the Limassol Town Hall hosted the students of the School of Architecture of the University of Nicosia during the regular consultation meeting of the “Lemesos Commons,” during which they shared their proposals and ideas for the municipality’s priority areas within the framework of the “Lemesos Cooling City Challege—LC3.”

Their projects, inspired and visionary, combined sustainability with modern urban design, demonstrating that architecture can contribute to creating sustainable and resilient cities.

The students’ collaboration took place within the “Lemesos Commons” part of the European project Lemesos City Cooling Challenge (LC3). The students visited the designated areas together with the project team, analyzed the needs of these regions, and aligned their work with the priorities of Lemesos’ Climate Contract.

The students presented their proposals to Mayor Yiannis Armeftis and the participants of the “ Lemesos Commons” team. Their ideas aimed at urban and environmental revitalisation of specific areas of Lemesos, combining traditional design with modern AI tools and offering innovative solutions focused on waste management, biodiversity protection, and social inclusion.

The presented projects addressed the area from Lemesos Marina to the New Port, the Salt Lake, the broader Ladies Mile region, and the Fasouri area. Through presentations, group proposals, and the open discussion that followed, valuable insights emerged, strengthening the university community’s role in the vision of a Climate-Neutral Lemesos by 2030.
